- The Pratahkala Gowri Puja Muhurat will start at 06:24 AM and end at 08:53 AM on the same day
- The Tadige Tithi will begin at 12:21 PM on September 5 and end at 03:01 PM on September 6
Gowri Habba Festival Puja Rituals
- On the day of Gowri Habba, women prepare a symbolic idol of Goddess Gowri made of turmeric or clay and decorate it with flowers, jewellery, and sarees.
- Then, they do the 'sthapana' of either jalagauri or arishinadagauri (a symbolic idol of Gauri made of turmeric). The idol is placed on a decorated platform for worship
- Married women observe a fast and perform a ritual known as ‘Mangala Gowri Vrata’ on this day and seek blessings of the Goddess.
- On this day, devotees recite prayers and sing songs in praise of the Goddess, seeking her blessings for the well-being of their husbands and families.
- Devotees offer sweets, fruits, and special dishes to the Goddess. These offerings, known as ‘Naivedya’, are later distributed among family members as prasad.
- After the Gowri Habba pooja, women exchange kumkum and bangles with each other, symbolising good luck and marital bliss.
- An offering of baagina occurs during the festival. At least five baaginas are prepared as part of the vrata. Each baagina usually contains a packet of arshina (turmeric), kumkum, black bangles, black beads (used in the mangalsutra), a comb, a small mirror, baLe bicchoLe, coconut, blouse piece, dhaanya (cereal), rice, toor dal, green dal, wheat or rava and jaggery cut in a cube form.

The festival of Gowri Habba holds great significance in India. Gauri, the mother of Ganesha, is worshipped for her ability to bestow upon her devotees courage and power. As per religious beliefs, Gauri is the incarnation of Mahadevi and the Shakti of Shiva. It is believed that on Thadige, or the third day of the month of Bhadra, Gauri comes home like any married woman who comes to her parents' house. The next day, Ganesha, her son, comes as if to take her back to her abode of Kailasha.
