The Global Day of Parents is observed on the 1st of June every year, to honour the ones who’ve stood by you. This day celebrates the parent's selfless involvement to power a child’s journey. The day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 to honour parents all over the world. The Global Day of Parents provides children with an opportunity to appreciate parents for their lifelong sacrifice and endless love. The theme for the 2019 Global Day of Parents is "Honor Your Parents!"  International Day of Families: 4 Ways Families Can Support Inclusion.

Schools, colleges and other educational institutions will organise programmes where the parents will be invited and honoured. Also, there will be media campaigns to promote the importance of good parenting. Various Non-Governmental Organisations and community leaders across the world will deliver lectures on good parenting and the principles of parenthood. Significance of Global Day of Parents

The Global Day of Parents 2019 is an important event, considering the role of mother, father or guardian in building their child's future.

1) Commemorates Parents- This day recognises the efforts of parents as they play a major role in the social, mental and physical development of their children. The Global Day of Parents gives an opportunity to thank them for their endless dedication.

2) Encourages Better Parenting- This day promotes the conception of good parenting to the parents around the globe. They are motivated to give their child an emotional and loving environment conducive to growth.

3) Recognizing the Guardians- Global Day of Parents not only recognises the efforts of biological mother-father, but also the effort of step-parents, relatives, adoptive parents etc. The day celebrates the effort of every guardian around the globe who devoted their life to nurture a child.

This day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly with resolution A/RES/66/292 in 2012.  Parents' Day is celebrated in South Korea on May 8 while in the United States the day is observed on the fourth Sunday of July.
