It is almost time to bid goodbye to everyone's favourite deity Lord Ganesha, as the festival of Ganeshotsav reaches the 7th day of immersion. After the initial excitement from few weeks in advance, in just another three days the festival will culminate with Anant Chaturdashi on September 23. Today, Ganpati idols kept for seven days will be immersed. The festival of Ganeshotsav 2018 began on September 13. People who get the Lord Ganesha home keep it for a certain amount of days. It is undoubtedly, a difficult time for all the devotees to bid a goodbye to their favourite lord. Especially after tending to him for about a week, offering special worship, making special meals, it does feel very empty when the God leaves their abode. While the Ganpati aagman happens rather quietly, the visarjan sees a procession. People play music, follow the song and dance routine on the way to the visarjan spot. Those who do not personally have the Ganpati idol, make it a point to at least attend and be a part of visarjan processions. The immersion can take place in man-made lakes, which are made at different spots across the city. Once the household Ganeshas are immersed, people make it a point to go visit the Sarvajanik pandals.
