Ganesh Chaturthi 2023: How to Celebrate

Set up the Ganesha statue: Installing the Ganesha idol in your home or a public area is the first step. The idol may be crafted from metal, wood, or clay. On September 19, between 11:01 AM and 01:30 PM, the Madhyahna Muhurat is the most fortunate time to place the idol.

Ganesh Pooja: You can perform the puja once the idol has been installed. Puja is a practice that entails bathing the idol, making prayers, and presenting food and flowers as offerings. Either you or a priest can perform the puja.

Kirtans and Bhajans: It is customary to perform kirtans and bhajans in honour of Lord Ganesha during Ganesh Chaturthi. Bhajans and kirtans can be heard in Hindu temples or online.

Visit Ganesha Temple/Pandals: During Ganesh Chaturthi, temporary structures called Ganesha pandals are erected. They have lights, flowers, and other festive decorations on them. You can go to a Ganesha pandal to celebrate the festival and to worship Lord Ganesha.

Offerings for Ganesha: Flowers, fruits, sweets, and modak are just a few of the tributes that you might present to Lord Ganesha. The sweet dumplings known as modak are thought to be Lord Ganesha's favourite dish.

Ganesh Visarjan: Ganesha is worshipped for ten days before being submerged in a lake or river. It's called Vinayaka Visarjan. The immersion serves as a symbolic act of gratitude to Lord Ganesha for his favours.

The aarti, a fire ceremony done to praise the gods, is the primary component of the puja. Ganesha's statue is encircled by a lamp during the aarti, and prayers are chanted. Prasad, a sweet dish sanctified by the gods, is offered as an offering to close the puja.
