It is always advised to get in a Ganpati idol with its trunk pointing towards the left side. A left-sided trunk Ganesh idol is said to represent calmness. This idol is also said to be good for Vastu or the well-being of the house. An idol with the left-side trunk is said to get in success and prosperity. So it is always advised to get in this kind of idol. Also, a Ganesh idol which has its trunk close to or touching the Modak is said to impart spiritual wisdom or spiritual bliss. An idol with the right-sided trunk has to be worshipped with extra care. Any mistake in worshipping this particular deity is said to incur the wrath of the deity. There are fixed rituals which have to be followed in a certain way as this Lord Ganesha is said to have a fiery nature.
