Ganesh Chaturthi, usually a 10-day celebration, begins on the 13th of September this year. Celebrated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm people leave no stone unturned in making the celebration the most memorable one each year.  Also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, Ganesh Chaturthi is the Hindu festival that worships Lord Ganesha. Ganesh Puja is done during Madhyahna as it is believed that Lord Ganesh was born during Madhyahna Kala, which according to the Hindu, it is equivalent to midday. On the other hand, as per Drik Panchang, the time to avoid the moon sighting on September 12 and 13 is from 6:37 pm to 8:24 pm and 9:20 am to 9:03 pm respectively. People would bring beautifully handcrafted idols of the Vigana Harta or Buddhi Pradaayaka, Ganesha to their homes and do worship. On each day, different traditions are followed by different families. The birth anniversary of the elephant-headed son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati is observed across with great devotion. Ganeshotsav is the biggest celebration, especially for Mumbaikars.
