Father's Day 2018 will be celebrated on Sunday, 17 June. The day is dedicated to fathers and celebrates the spirit of fatherhood. It can be termed as the complimentary celebration of honoring the close parental relationship by days like Mother's Day and Siblings Day. The Father's Day was first celebrated in the United States in 1908. Since then, the day has gained popularity in other parts of the world.

Like any close and intimate relationship, a lot has been written about the relationship between fathers and children. There have been poems, and eulogies dedicated to fathers but nothing quite capture the love for someone like a quote does. The inspiring quotes to follow will prove that a dad is a child's true inspiration. Here is a compilation of some of the most profound and moving quotes by sons and daughters for their fathers:

1.  If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher- A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

2. A father is a man who expects his son to be as good a man as he meant to be- Frank A. Clark

3. Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad, and that's why I call you dad, because you are so special to me. You taught me the game and you taught me how to play it right- Wade Boggs

4. It is a wise father that knows his own child- William Shakespeare

5. If you are a good person, you will probably be a good father. Try not to worry too much. If you don't feel apprehensive just before your first child arrives, you are abnormal. Though catastrophe doesn't come as often in childbirth as it did a few generations ago, we naturally fear it.

India and many other countries have their own occasions and rituals dedicated to fathers. While it is true that fathers evoke fear and respect, but it's also true that fathers are a source of inspiration and a reason to feel proud in this world. People may have different memories and emotions associated with their fathers but one thing that cannot be argued is the fact that a child misses his/her father no matter what. And as the old belief goes: As we age, we become like our fathers and resemble them more and more.
