The Central Hilal Committee of USA, on June 1, issued advisory for the Muslims in the country to make a group effort to sight the moon on Monday, June 3, 2019, for the month of Shawwal 1440. As per the committee, this is an excellent opportunity for muslims to revive a Sunnah and take part in the blessed effort. The committee has requested to report to the local CHC Ulama on sighting the moon.

The crescent moon for commencement of the month of Ramadan 1440 Hijri was sighted on sunset of Sunday, May 5, 2019. All the muslims in the western countries initiated month long fasting and prayers after sighting the moon on Sunday.
