UAE's Minister of Justice, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Badi, has formed a moon-sighting panel to detect Shawwal crescent. The panel will meet at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department today. The sighting of the moon will mark the beginning of Eid or Eid al-Fitr celebration and the end of Ramadan month.

Abu Dhabi, June 3: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will celebrate Eid or Eid al-Fitr tomorrow i.e. June 4 if the moon is sighted in any part of the nation today. The sighting of the moon marks the beginning of Eid celebration as well as the end of the Islamic holy month of fasting – Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the month of Shawwal. A new month, under the Islamic lunar calendar, begins upon the sighting of a crescent moon on the 29th day of the ongoing month. Eid al-Fitr 2019: How to sight Eid moon:

Muslims in the UAE have observed 29 Ramadan fasts till today and will try to see the crescent moon. If the moon is not sighted, Ramadan month will complete 30 days and Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on June 5. As part of Eid celebrations, Muslims offer a special prayer in open areas like fields, community centres, etc. or at mosques. Revellers visit homes of their relatives and friends and special sweet dishes are relished.
