In Australia and New Zealand, the respective Imams Councils affiliated to different Islamic sects will issue their respective statements.
Although attempts are being made by some section of the Muslims to sight the moon, the Australian National Imams Council had issued a statement last Thursday, stating that Eid al-Fitr would be celebrated in the nation on June 5. The Council had used astronomical inputs and scientific data to finalise the date.
