If the crescent remains unseen, then the month of Ramadan would be extended by another date and the festival of Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5.
Apart from the Middle East, attempts would also be made to sight the hilal crescent in all other parts of the world barring the Indian subcontinent.

In India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the month of Ramadan began on May 7. The hilal committees in that part of the world would be convening tomorrow to sight the 29th crescent. If the moon is sighted, then Eid would be celebrated in the subcontinent on June 5, else on June 6.
Eid al-Fitr is the biggest festival among Muslims across the world. The festival is preceded by month-long Ramadan fasts, when Muslims abstain from food and water between dawn to dusk.
