Muslims all over await the important festival of Bakra Eid. The festival of Eid-al-Adha is being celebrated on August 22, 2018. The day is 'festival of sacrifice' and people from the community perform the sacrifice of a goat and indulge in traditional delicacies. But a lot of people have now opted for an alternative to animal sacrifice. Some Muslims from Lucknow have decided to cut cakes this year instead of goats. These cakes have an image of a goat on them. A buyer at a bakery told ANI, "The custom of sacrificing an animal on Bakr-Eid is not right. I appeal to everyone to celebrate the festival by cutting a cake instead of an animal." Although it is not clear how many people are opting for the practice, it is a good measure. The practice of sacrificing the goat is observed as an equivalent to God's compassion towards Prophet Ibrahim.
