Eid al-Adha 2018 Holidays in UAE: Transport Schedule & Shift Timings of Govt Departments for Next Week in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah
Eid al-Adha is the second of the two major festivals celebrated by Muslims across the globe -- the other being Eid al-Fitr which was observed in June this year.
Abu Dhabi, Aug 17: The government of United Arab Emirates has announced Eid al-Adha holidays in the public sector from August 19 (Sunday) to August 23 (Thursday). With Friday and Saturday being observed as week-offs, the official departments will resume work on August 26.
The private sector, meanwhile, will observe a three-day holiday beginning from August 20 (Monday) till August 22 (Wednesday). Notably, the festival of Eid al-Adha will be celebrated in the UAE, along with other parts of the Middle East on August 21.
Transport Schedule & Shift Timings of Govt Departments for Next Week in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah
- In Dubai, all public paid parking zones will remain free of cost throughout the upcoming week, announced theĀ Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
- In Sharjah, the parking costs have been waived off for the five-day period (August 19-24) at all places barring theĀ Al Hosn Boulevard in Al Shuwaihean and Al Shuyoukh; Birds and Animals Market in Al Jubail area.
- TheĀ General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA), based in Dubai, has announced that it would function for only four hours, between 9am to 1pm, on August 19, 20, 22 and 23. On August 22, when Eid al-Adha will be celebrated, the GDRFA will remain closed.
- At the Dubai International Airport, the Terminal 3 will operate as per the routine to prevent inconvenience in completion of customer procedures. The external centre of the terminal will operate 24 hours to ensure continuity in flight operations.
- Hospitals and healthcare centres affiliated to theĀ Dubai Health Authority (DHA) will work in shifts to decrease pressure on the staff. Medical practitioners, however, will have to remain available on call in case of emergency cases. The emergency wards will function round the clock throughout the holidays.
- Following specialised clinics, affiliated to the DHA, will remain closed between August 20-23:Ā cardiology, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, neuro medical, hernia surgery clinic, pre-anaesthetic clinic, general medical clinic, wound clinic, TB clinic, the Trauma & Orthopaedic and General Surgery.
- Dubai Metro will work beyond the regular hours, upto 2am from August 20 (Monday) to August 25 (Saturday) to ensure hassle-free commutation for people who would be reaching out to their relatives in all parts of the Emirates for the Eid celebrations. The trams will also remain functional from Monday to Saturday till 1am. Some of the major bus stations will also extend their operating hours.
