Eid al-Adha, also referred to as Eid al-Azha or Bakra Eid, must be celebrated by Muslims across the globe on the 10th day of Dhul-al-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar. Since the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, as opposed to gregorian calendar which uses fixed dates, the day of Eid al-Adha celebrations will vary in different parts of the nation. Countries where Eid-al-Adha will be celebrated on August 21

In the Middle East, Northern Africa and the West -- Europe, North and South America, Eid will be observed on August 21. The countries falling in these regions include the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), United Arab Emirates (UAE), Libya, Lebanon, Algeria, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, along with the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Belgium and others.

In the eastern part of the world, which includes the South Asia and the far east - comprising Indonesia -- the country with the highest Muslim population in the world, and India -- which houses the second largest number of Muslims -- Eid al-Adha namaz will be prayed in the morning of August 22.

The region where the Eid prayers will be held on August 22 include Malaysia, Brunei, Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Japan, China, Myanmar, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia and others.

Much of southern and central Africa, including Somalia, Nigeria, Niger, Chad South Africa and others will celebrate Eid al-Adha on August 22.
