Happy Dussehra 2023 to all! Dussehra or Vijayadashami will be celebrated on October 24 this year. The major Hindu festival is celebrated in India with great fervour and enthusiasm. It falls on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin, which usually corresponds to the Gregorian calendar months of September or October, depending on the lunar calendar. One of the significant parts of Dussehra is Ravan Dahan, which is burning the effigy of Ravan. The auspicious day marks Lord Rama's victory over Ravan, who had kidnapped Mata Sita. Thus, the burning of the effigy of the demon king Ravana, along with the effigies of Kumbhkaran and Meghanada, is a significant ritual of the Dussehra celebration. Dussehra Legends: Know Stories Related to Vijayadashami Celebrations That Mark the Culmination of Navaratri Festival.
