Mumbai, October 16: Devotees can now donate money to North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti, through HDFC’s PayZapp. The samiti informed devotees about this through a Facebook post. It is the oldest and the biggest Durga puja association founded by Padmashri Sashadhar Mukherjee. For the last 71 years, the samiti is organising Durga Puja. It is one of the most star-studded puja of Mumbai. Bollywood stars including Kajol, Rani Mukerji Tanisha Mukerji and Tanuja Mukerji actively take part in the Puja preparations. This year, the venue for the Puja has changed, and it has shifted to Golden Tobacco Ground, Tobacco House, Ville Parle West. Earlier, it used to take place in Tulip Star Hotel. The schedule of the entire event was shared three weeks before the event. On the day of Maha Panchami, the Murti Sthapana took place, and Kajol, Ayan Mukherjee, Sumona Chakravarti and others were present at the venue. According to reports, North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja Samiti is the only Durga puja samiti which performs the visarjan with the help of forklift and crane.
Meanwhile in Kolkata, Amid Durga Puja festivities in West Bengal, metro in the city recorded its highest-ever footfall of more than nine lakh passengers on Shashti, the sixth day of Durga Puja festival. According to details by the railways, around 9.11 lakh passengers travelled in the Kolkata Metro services on Monday, making it the highest footfall so far by the Kolkata Metro since its inception 34 years ago.
