Mumbai, September 4: Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, scholar, statesman and the second President of India, would have turned 131 years old on Thursday, September 5. Born on this day in 1888 in Tiruttani, India, he served as the President of India from 1962 to 1967. Dr Radhakrishnan held a number of academic positions throughout his life. He was the professor of philosophy at Mysore and Calcutta universities and vice chancellor of Andhra University. He was also the professor of Eastern religions and ethics at the University of Oxford, besides being the vice chancellor of Benares Hindu University (BHU).
