On the day of Dahi Handi, a pot filled with curd (yoghurt) is hung at a height, and teams of young men, known as ‘Govindas’, form human pyramids to reach and break the pot. The act depicts Krishna's childhood habit of stealing butter. The name of the festival, ‘Dahi Handi’, is derived from the words 'Dahi’, which means curd and ‘Handi’, which translates to earthen pot used to process and keep the milk products. Dahi Handi celebrations are full of thrill as the height at which the Dahi Handi is suspended can be quite challenging, often exceeding multiple stories in height.
