As per records, the Croatian referendum on independence was held in May 1991, with 93% of voters supporting independence. On June 25, the Croatian Parliament (Sabor) proclaimed Croatian independence. In 2002, the Government of Ivica Racan moved the Independence Day to October 8, and June 25 was marked as a memorial day under the name Statehood Day. On November 14, 2019, the Croatian Parliament adopted a new law on holidays, and moved Independence Day of Croatia back to June 25.
