Chota Bacha Samajh Ke Humko

Every 90s kid will remember “Chota Bacha Samajh Ke Humko” song from Masoom movie very well. Child actor Omkar Kapoor is in his finest form in this peppy song sung by singer Aditya Narayan. This child actor-singer combination will make you feel super nostalgic. And a big cheer for songwriter Anand Raj Anand who has penned down the fantastic and memorable lyrics of this song that goes like – “Chhota bacha jan ke, Na koi aankh dikha na rey,” Akal ka kaccha samjh ke, Humko na samjhana rey” – it means, DON’T MESS WITH ME.

Masti ki Paathshala

“Na koi padhne wala na koi sikhne wala, Apni toh paathshala masti ki paathshala,” from the movie Rang De Basanti is probably every college-goers’ anthem. Sung by Naresh Iyer and Mohammed Aslam with music composed by AR Rahman, this song brings back all the good times spent in college. The lyrics by Prasoon Joshi has such an effect on you. Not kidding. Listen to it again, and you will know what we are talking about.

Maine Kaha Phoolon Se

A really sweet song by the Queen of Melody, Lata Mangeshkar captures the beauty and innocence of children. “Maine Kaha Phoolon Se” from 1975 film Mili shows Jaya Bachchan in the titular character. She is performing with a group of children as Shekhar (Amitabh Bachchan) watches them. This is one of the evergreen songs that is apt for Children’s Day celebrations.

Lakdi Ki Kaathi

“Lakadi Ki Kaathi Kaathi Pe Ghoda, Ghode Ki Dum Pe Jo Maara Hathauda, Dauda Dauda Dauda Ghoda Dum Utha Ke Dauda.” We have grown up singing this delightful nursery poem and if you know anyone who hasn’t, don’t tell us about them. Yes, the song is not only famous, but much loved. “Lakdi Ki Kathi” is originally from 1960 film Masoom, and it featured Urmila Matondkar, Jugal Hansraj and Aradhana Srivastav as child actors singing and dancing on this beloved song.

Ziddi Piddi

My favourite of all Children’s Day songs got to be “Ziddi Piddi” from 2011-film Chillar Party. Why? You would not have asked such a question if you saw this song video once. The kids from primary class have stripped to their chaddi to save a stray dog who has become very dear to them. Chillar Party had won the 2011 National Film Award for Best Children's Film. Listen to this hit song sung by Armaan Malik, Amit Trivedi, Tanmay Chaudhari, and Gaurika Rai.

Taare Zameen Par

“Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man." – Rabindranath Tagore. Indeed, every child is like stars on earth or should we say Taare Zameen Par. The title track of 2007 film will move you to tears (happy and sad). Sung beautifully by Shankar Mahadevan, Dominique Cerejo, and Vivienne Pocha "Taare Zameen Par" should be on every Children’s Day songs list.

Mere Buddy

Fan of Armaan Malik? This song is for you as a 13-year-old Armaan’s cute voice will melt your heart. And of course, you have Amitabh Bachchan whose swag will wish to see more of such amazing jugalbandi.

These are few songs we feel will work wonders during Children’s Day celebrations in schools. From fun to emotional, old classic to new peppy, it has it all. Let us know which ones your favourite of all? And once again, wishing you all a very Happy Children’s Day 2018.
