Cheti Chand and popularly known as Sindhi New Year is celebrated on the first full moon after a no moon night. This year, Cheti Chand will be celebrated on March 18 coinciding with Maharashtrain festival Gudi Padwa. The auspicious festival of Cheti Chand is celebrated by Sindhi’s in India and Pakistan. On this occasion, the Sindhi community comes together to celebrate the birth anniversary of saint Uderolal, also called Jhulelal. All devotees sing and dance in the public procession called Baharana Sahib. They also take the idol of Jhulelal to the nearest river and perform rituals.
