Both, Chandra Shekhar Azad and Bal Gangadhar Tilak had their own ways of dealing with the colonial British rule. Their dedication and struggle towards the cause of Indian independence serve as a role model for the youth today!
Chandra Shekhar Azad and Bal Gangadhar Tilak are those freedom fighters who had carved a cult figure in India's struggle for independence. Both the freedom fighters share a common birthdate, i.e. July 23. Come Monday, India will be celebrating Chandra Shekhar Azad's 113th birth anniversary, whereas it will celebrate the 162nd birth anniversary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak.
One of the most revered freedom fighters in their times, both Azad and Tilak had crucial roles to play in India's independence. Azad was born in a village in Alirajpur, in Madhya Pradesh, in the year 1906. On the other hand, Tilak was in Ratnagiri in the year 1856.

One of the revolutionary freedom fighters, Chandra Shekhar Azad was a mentor to many young freedom fighters, like Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru. It is said that the Britishers were unable to arrest him, as he was a master in disguise. It was only after one of his colleagues divulged his details that led to him being trapped in a park by the Englishmen. There he bravely thwarted off the British policemen; however, with only a bullet left, he shot himself instead of surrendering!
Bal Gangadhar Tilak was the first to advocate about 'Swaraj'. His dialogue, "Swaraj is my birth-right and I shall have it," still rings in our ears when we talk about him. He was conferred the title of 'Lokmanya' for his leadership qualities.
