New Delhi, January 31: People across the world will witness a red-brown glow on the moon during the total lunar eclipse on Wednesday. For the first time since 1866, the Blue moon, super moon and blood moon will all coincide in 2018. This means the celestial event will see a lunar eclipse, blue moon and the supermoon all at once, giving people around the world a jaw-dropping spectacle night. It will be a moment to behold for all the stargazers across the globe on Wednesday as they get a rare opportunity to witness the super blue blood Moon. According to details by NASA, the January 31, 2018 full moon is special for three reasons as it is the third in a series of supermoons, when the Moon is closer to Earth in its orbit (perigee) and about 14 per cent brighter than usual. Also, it is the second full moon of the month which is commonly referred to as a "blue moon." On Wednesday, the super blue moon will pass through Earth's shadow to make viewers witness a total lunar eclipse. While the Moon is in the Earth's shadow, it will take on a reddish tint, known as a 'blood moon'.

Lunar Eclipse January 31, 2018 Schedule: According to Drikpanchang, general Sutak timing begins at 07:07:21 and ends at 20:41:10 on January 31, 2018. The partial eclipse will begin at 5.18 PM IST and end by 8.42 PM on January 31 while the total eclipse will start from 6.21 PM and end at 7.38 PM.

Those in Mumbai can witness the spectacular event on January 31, 2018 from 6.27 PM. Meanwhile, people in Delhi can observe the celestial movement from 5.53 pm. Residents in Kolkata can observe the sky from 5.16 pm while those in Bangalore can observe the sky from 6.15 pm. Chandra Grahan Do's and Dont's: Temples are believed to remain closed during this period and shall be reopened after ritualistic practices. The eclipse is a natural occurrence and will happen on its own, so there is no need to panic. If you have been wondering about things you need to do and things you should avoid, worry not! People are advised to take bath after the eclipse is over.  Pregnant women must chant the Santana Gopala Mantra and the others can chant the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra during the eclipse. To prevent the food grains from getting affected during the eclipse, put blades of dried grass/Darbha or Tulsi in each of the food grain storage containers in your kitchen. One should avoid drinking water during Chandra Grahan and no food should be cook food or eaten during that time.
