On Basant Panchami 2019, around two crore people are expected to take a holy dip at the Kumbh Mela 2019. The third and final shahi snan that coincides with Vasant Panchami will witness larger crowds at Prayagraj. Basant Panchami also known as Vasant Panchami marks the arrival of spring. People pray to Saraswati, the Goddess of prosperity and education on this day.

Basant Panchami is celebrated with different customs and traditions across states, but the core essence of the festival remains the same. Kumbh Mela 2019 commenced on January 15 on Makar Sankranti which is the first bathing day. Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) president Narendra Giri said during Kumbh Mela, there were three shahi snan or royal baths and three 'parv snaans'. Allahabad Mayor Abhilasha Gupta Nandi told PTI, "Basant Panchami is the third and last shaahi snaan of the Kumbh. By taking three dips on this day, a devotee gets the blessings of Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers. Tight security arrangements are in place for the day. Besides which three women police stations, 317 police response and three police lines are in place to attend any emergencies. Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) commandoes, anti-sabotage commandoes with snipers, bomb disposal units, sniffer dog squads and intelligence units have been deployed.
