- The deities are then adorned with new clothes.

Lord Balarama is also worshipped as an Avatar of Adishesha, the serpent on which Lord Vishnu rests. Balarama is also known as Baladeva, Balabhadra and Halayudha. In some parts of India, Balaram Jayanti is celebrated on the day of Akshaya Tritiya, while in various other regions, it is observed on the Shravan Purnima. Some devotees celebrate Balaram Jayanti in the month of Vaisakh, which falls either in May or April according to the Gregorian calendar. As per records, Balarama’s mentions are found in Mahabharata, Harivamsha, Bhagavata Purana, and other Puranas. He is identified with the vyuha avatar of Sankarshana and the deities of Shesha and Lakshmana.
