Under the Islamic calendar, each month ends after completing 29 or 30 days, depending on the moon sighting. On 29th of every month, Muslims look for the crescent moon. If the moon is sighted, the ongoing month ends and a new month starts from the next day. In India, today, June 7, marks 29th of Dhul Qadah, the month before Dhul Hijjah. Hence, Ruet-e-Hilal committees in different parts of India and Muslims in general will look for the moon this evening. If the moon is sighted today, Dhul Qadah shall end and Dhul Hijjah 1445 will begin from June 8.
