Arunachal Pradesh & Mizoram, Celebrate Their Statehood Day

The two hilly north-eastern states of India are geared up to celebrate the Statehood Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted to extend his warm greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.

The two hilly north-eastern states of India are geared up to celebrate the Statehood Day. Among the 29 states of India, popular for its Tibetan Buddhist, the people of Arunachal Pradesh are all set for its 32nd Statehood Day. The celebrations of this day continue for three days. This year too, the 3-day ‘Festival of Arunachal’ is organized at Indira Gandhi National Park in its capital city Itanagar. Arunachal Pradesh was granted statehood on this day in 1987. Another state in the area, Mizoram also celebrates their statehood today. It was declared a state in 1972.

The festival aims to rejoice the multi-dimensional cultural identity, communal harmony and propagate the spirit of national integration. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Prema Khandu has conveyed his greetings and best wishes to its people in a press release. He also tweeted to wish the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.

Every year these states celebrate their Statehood Day on February 20. Apart from an array of cultural programmes, several other events such as exhibition stalls consist of beautiful handicrafts, film festival, fashion show, flower and orchid shows are organized. The best part of their celebration in Arunachal Pradesh is the 'Food Village' which tickles the taste buds with delicious momos, smoked fish, meat, steamed rice and varieties of dishes from its districts.

Blessed with forested hills that spread across for hundreds of miles, dense bamboo groves, lush paddy fields, sheer cliffs, serene waterfalls make Mizoram a favourite destination for travellers. On the other hand, Arunachal Pradesh is rich with picturesque beauty that offers relaxation and rejuvenation with the places of worship and wildlife sanctuaries. The people are all excited to celebrate its Statehood Day.
