New Delhi, July 22: The Amarnath Yatra 2020 has been cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Devotees of Lord Shiva can watch live aarti, directly from the sacred Himalayan caves, at 6 am in the morning. National broadcaster DD News would bringing the live streaming of Amarnath Aarti. Amarnath Yatra 2020 Cancelled, Jammu & Kashmir Govt Says Pilgrimage Not Possible Under Current Circumstances.

Prasar Bharti, the autonomous body which administers the functioning of DD News and other state-run media arms, had taken the initiative to bring the aarti of Amarnath shrine to scores of devotees who are not able to join the annual pilgrimage.

Apart from the morning aarti at 6 am, the public broadcaster has also been airing the evening aarti at 5 pm. An update was issued by DD National on Twitter on Tuesday, informing the devotees that they can tune into the aarti on each morning.

The annual pilgrimage was earlier scheduled to begin later this month, with a restriction of only 500 pilgrims per day. The Yatra was expected to be facilitated using the Baltal route. However, an order was issued by the Jammu & Kashmir administration, announcing the suspension of pilgrimage this year.

"Based upon the circumstances, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board decided that it is not advisable to hold and conduct this year’s Shri Amarnathji Yatra and expressed its regret to announce the cancellation of Yatra 2020," said the statement issued by Raj Bhavan, Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
