Akshaya Tritiya 2018 Online Sales: Flipkart And Amazon Offer Discounts on Gold Jewellery

Akshaya Tritiya which is among most auspicious Hindus days falls on April 18 this year. Demand for gold surges around this day as people consider it propitious to buy the yellow metal. People buy gold in the form of jewellery, bars and coins on Akshaya Tritiya. As per reports, this year jewellers are expecting 15-20 percent increase in sales with the ongoing wedding season. In the past few years, online shopping sites have also joined the bandwagon and are offering discounts.

Amazon and Flipkart are offering discounts this season to its buyers. Amazon has up to 15 percent off on 1gm and 2gms of gold coins. They are giving 5 to 20 percent off on gold jewellery, while there is a minimum 60 percent off on golf plated jewellery. There are offers on silver, diamond and platinum jewellery.

Flipkart has a wide variety of brands for customers to choose from. Their gold jewellery under 19,999 include rings, bangles and earrings. Malabar, Joyalukkas, TBZ sell their products on Flipkart. They also have gold coins with the image of Goddess Lakshmi engraved on them which is symbolic of wealth and prosperity. Meanwhile, offline stores are running various offers and scheme to attract customers.

Akshaya Tritiya are a combination of Sanskrit words in which 'Akshaya' means eternal while Tritiya means third. It is observed on the 'third lunar day' of the spring month of Vaisakha in the Hindu calendar. Hindu believers go to temples and offer prayers on this day. In Akshaya Tritiya is believed to be the birthday of Parasurama who is the sixth incarnation of Vishnu. Buying gold for investment on Akshaya Tritiya is believed to yield great results.
