One of the most significant titles in beauty, Miss Deaf World 2019 was held in Mbombela, South Africa. Eleven finalists from sixteen participating countries were chosen for the final round and the 21-year-old Vidisha Baliyan was crowned Miss Deaf World 2019. It is a proud moment for India as Vidisha became the first Indian to win the prestigious title at the international annual event. Her crowning moment is headlined internationally and we cannot keep calm. Vidisha originally hails from Muzaffarnagar city and is a modelling student from the Asian Academy of Film & Television. Her family lives in Ghaziabad. Times Now stated that the 21-year-old was trained for the beauty pageant in Gurgaon and Noida and is a former international tennis player who represented India in the Deaflympics. She suffered from a severe back injury, after recovering from which, Vidisha participated in the global platform.

A South African contestant was crowned as Miss Deaf World 2019 runner up. Battling through hearing-impaired conditions, the beautiful woman shared several pictures of her journey at the beauty pageant.

Sharing the video of her crowning moment, Vidisha said in her Instagram, she could not control her tears. “My crowning moment...My tears here are telling more than any words could express. The joy, the pains, the hard work, the belief, the early mornings - all are worth it. Being crowned as the first Indian to win in the Miss Deaf World Category. Feeling surreal. Thank you God,” reads her caption.
Vidisha's Crowning Moment:
Miss Deaf World is an international beauty pageant which crowns deaf women and men every year. Organised by Miss & Mister Deaf World (MMDW), the non-profit organisation was created in 2001. The official language in the beauty contest is International Sign Language. Miss Deaf World was first won by Viktoriia Prytychenko from Ukraine and the completion was held in Mallorca, Spain.
