The four-day Tamilian harvest festival in 2019 will begin on January 15 and end on January 18. Pongal corresponds to other harvest festivals celebrated throughout India that is Lohri and Makar Sankranti. In the Tamil language, the word Pongal means overflowing, signifying abundance and prosperity.
