Hunter McGrady, like many other women, has been a victim to body-shaming. To the extent where people advised her how to dress for her wedding day. Her OWN wedding day. She spoke up about how all her life she was asked to wear loose clothes and shy away from skimpy outfits to hide her body. In her interview with Yahoo Life, she said, “Everyone always told me my whole life, ‘You’re a bigger girl, don’t wear anything skintight, we don’t want to show off those curves. Don’t wear anything covered up to here because it doesn’t look great on your bust”. She explains how she still can’t walk to SOHO and get something for herself, feeling like she fits in. She says, “I still can’t just go down to Soho or Fifth Avenue and shop. That doesn’t exist for me. But yet, 70 percent of America is a size 14 or above.”. Naturally, for Hunter, finding the perfect, dreamy dress for her big day proved to be a task. She aspires to be confident and inspire people to love their bodies the way it is. Every day she tries to love her curves, stretch marks and cellulite. Self-love is a difficult journey, and it’s tough to get there.
