Tips on Hartalika Teej Makeup and Style:

  • Choose your traditional attire, from a range of traditional sarees, lehengas, shararas, or salwar kurtas. Make up your mind if you want your clothes to take away the look or want to depend on heavy makeup. Also, green and red are said to be the colour of the day, so you might want to stick to the two bright colours.
  • If you are wearing a heavy attire with a lot of zari work, go down on makeup and refrain from using bright colours while you do makeup.
  • If you are keeping your lip colour loud, make sure do go low on eye makeup and vice versa. You don't want too much going on with your makeup.
  • Make sure you are accessorised head-to-toe. Right from your maang-tika to bichiya (toe-rings) do not leave anything behind. You can also try out stylish kardhan/Kamar bandh and armlets on this day as well. But whatever accessories you choose make sure you balance it out by not wearing all the heavy jewellery pieces. For example: If your necklace is heavy, calm down with your earrings.
  • Don't forget your sindoor and designer bindi to match your attire. You can go for liquid kumkum for the day as well.
