Ananya Panday needs no introduction. The 20-year-old is the daughter of actor Chunky Pandey and all set to make her big Bollywood debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year 2. We had seen a bit of Ananya in the trailer, which was all about Tiger Shroff and later in the first song of the film, “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.” Ananya was seen fighting for the screen space with Tara Sutaria (also the female lead) in the re-created version of RD Burman’s classic. However, the newly-released song “Fakira” gives the young girl a chance to command audiences’ attention fully. And she does to an extent. “Fakira” sung by Sanam Puri and Neeti Mohan is the new romantic ballad of the season. It is picturised on Tiger who plays Rohan and Ananya who portrays the role of Shreya. From the trailer, you would know their relationship is a typical rich-girl-falls-for-poor-boy trope. If you have not seen the trailer, you can check that out here. Coming back to “Fakira”, it seems like a budding romance between the two as they meet over dance practices (ignore her bad Kabaddi playing skills). Karan had directed the original Student of the Year in 2012, which launched actors Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. His version of school/college presented in the film named St. Teresa became every college-goer’s expectations, especially the outfits and overall looks. While he may not be directing the sequel and handed it over to Punit Malhotra, Karan is the producer. And he ensures the SOTY franchise is all about glam, uber-cool and voguish! After Ananya-Tiger love duet, we can expect the makers to drop Tara-Tiger dance track soon. We are dying to see more of Tara’s ultra-glam avatar from the film.
