Denim was traditionally meant for bottom wear. But the recent style trends have given us many variations of the good-old blue fabric and we now have a range of denim-based outfits. It's is no longer limited to jeans, skirts or shirts; today we have denim tops, jumpsuits, sarees, scarfs and what not! And this fashion season, denim is a legit trend that most of our Bollywood divas are indulging in. Some of them wore the denim in ways, we couldn't imagine before. The denim in fact also made its way to the fashion-high event of Cannes 2018, where big Bollywood celebrities like Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Mahira Khan were spotted wearing it.

This runway season, denim has been featured on both national and international platforms. Jeans with exposed stitching, ripped denims, dark-wash denim and the 90s-inspired baggy jeans are some of the denim style trends that have been popular in 2018 so far. And when it is a fashion trend, how can Bollywood be far away from it? In their recent appearances, some A-lister actresses were spotted wearing denim with a trendy twist. We have picked seven of them for outfit inspiration and #OOTDGoals:

Kareena Kapoor Khan

Kareena Kapoor Khan wore a very chic denim-on-denim pant-suit from Anand Ahuja’s clothing line Bhane during the promotions of her film Veere Di Wedding. Her look is proof that there is nothing like “too much denim”.

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor took the denim game to an all new level when she wore this ripped denim saree during a promotional event for Veere Di Wedding. Designed by Diksha Khanna, this fusion of denim and ethic wear is absolute #FashionGoals. Isn't it?

Sonam Kapoor also took the denim to the French Riviera, Cannes 2018 and made a mark with the regular yet stylish white shirt and blue denims.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif donned a very simple look, pairing a striped top and denim skirt. It is the unique cut of the skirt that made her ensemble stand out. This worn-out denim skirt look is something anyone can try out.

Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma's heavily-ripped denim paired with a casual tee is a really cool and an easy look to carry. This style is something one can simply carry on a casual shopping day or as a college look. The cute Suppandi top is from Anushka's own clothing line Nush.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone's half denim-half check shirt look at Cannes is an example of how denim can also be pulled off on the classiest of occasions. This look is both stylish and comfortable.

Sonakshi Sinha

During the Dabangg tour, Sonakshi wore a pair of boyfriend jeans with a bright top and sneakers and showed us how to make the sporty look hep.

Again, in dark blue denim overalls and a white denim jacket, Sonakshi gave us a lessons in teaming up two denim pieces and layering right.

Kriti Sanon

Kriti Sanon dared to take the denim experiment a notch up with her bold statement outfit. She paired a sky blue denim shirt with a mustard yellow midi-skirt for an event. This look is an inspiration for everyone who likes to mix and match.

While Kareena, Katrina and Kriti's denim styles are more subtle and sophisticated, Anushka, Sonam, Deepika and Sonakshi's are loud and chic.  You can take an inspiration from them according to your personal style and also try experimenting with the classic blue jeans.
