Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos stepped out with his 49-year-old girlfriend Lauren Sanchez publicly for the first time after getting divorced from wife MacKenzie Bezos in January 2019. Jeff and Lauren were seen leaving a New York City restaurant Emily on Sunday after having pizza and burgers. They were accompanied by Lauren's sister. The news of their relationship broke in January following which MacKenzie filed a divorce. Jeff is the richest man in the world worth an estimated $137 billion. People reported, "Both Jeff and Lauren have been focused on their kids for the last several months. Any relationship had to be on the back burner for that reason. Now that each has reached a divorce settlement, they thought the time was right to finally date like regular people."

Lauren is a TV host and owner of an aerial filming company. After Bezos' wife filed a divorce, Lauren sought separation from her husband Patrick Whitesell who is a Hollywood agent. They were married for 14 years and filed for joint custody of their two kids. Jeff and MacKenzie announced they were getting divorced in January, after reports of Jeff's affair with Lauren leaked. Later in April, Jeff on Twitter revealed that he and his ex-wife MacKenzie were ending their 25 years of marriage. After divorce, Jeff Bezos retained control over 75 per cent of his stock in the company and gained voting rights of the remaining shares of his former wife under a divorce settlement. Jeff had retweeted a tweet by MacKenzie who wrote, "Grateful to have finished the process of dissolving my marriage with Jeff with support from each other and everyone who reached out to us in kindness." The four per cent of the company shares accounts to roughly USD 36 billion based on Amazon's market value, The Washington Post reported.
