Patna, Aug 21: In a shocking incident, a woman was stipped, assaulted and paraded naked in Bihar's Bihiya town on Monday for her alleged involvement in the murder of a youth. Following the incident, eight police officials including the Station House Officer, Bahiya, were suspended. Bihar Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi for 'mahajangal raj' and 'rakshash raj' prevailing in the state.
The body of a youth, identified as Vimlesh Sav, was recovered on the railway tracks on Monday morning. It was suspected that Vimlesh was murdered. Angered by the murder, a mob stripped the woman and thrashed her mercilessly on suspicion of being involved in the crime. The mob also resorted to vandalism and pelted stones at several trains after which police had to fire in the air to disperse the crowd.
There has been a surge in criminal incidents in Bihar's Bhojpur district, the murder added fuel to fire for the already angry villagers. The villagers, as a show of anger, burnt down shops and vehicles including police vehicles. "An FIR has been registered in the case and police raids were on to arrest the culprits," Patna Zone Inspector General Nayyar Hasnain Khan told news reporting agency ANI.

After the incident, Tejashwi Yadav questioned the silence of Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi. "What is happening in Bihar? A woman is stripped naked and thrashed. Where is Sushil Kumar Modi hiding? You have turned Bihar into mahajangal raj and rakshash raj," Tejashwi tweeted. Patna Zone IG has assured that the culprits would not be spared, and strict action would be taken against them.
