Panaji, May 26: In yet another horrific case of crime against women, a tourist in Goa was sexually assaulted by three men at an isolated beach in the southern region of the state. Reports claim the victim was gangraped by the trio at Sernabatim beach, located in South Goa district -- 50km away from state capital Panaji. The accused tied up her boyfriend and raped her in front of him. Obscene pictures were also taken by them, apart from looting their money and personal belongings.

The incident happened on Thursday night, said a senior police official, adding that the police complaint was registered on Friday. The police has so far arrested three accused, who hail from Madhya Pradesh's Indore. While two of the accused-- Sanjiv Dhananjay Pal (23) and Ram Santosh Bhariya (19)-- were arrested from separate places in Goa late last night, another one-- Vishwas Makrana (23)-- was held this morning from Margao, police said.

“They stripped the couple, clicked their photographs and demanded money,” the police official said, adding that the rape was perpetrated after looting them.

South Goa Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas has assured strict action would be taken against the rapists. The victim, he said, has been sent for medical examination. The reports are awaited, Gawas added.
