Mumbai, April 15: A woman was allegedly molested in the Wankhede stadium premises  on Saturday during the IPL match between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Daredevils. The victim lodged a complaint with the police immediately after the incident.

The accused, identified as Gendrah Satnami, was taken into custody by the police.  A local magistrate on Sunday sent him to two-day police custody as per the FIR registered against him.

Satnami, 26, was reportedly employed by a contractor for work at the Wankhede stadium. While the match was underway last night, the accused allegedly passed lewd comments against the victim.

The molestation incident comes amid the ongoing rage across the nation against the sexual assault and murder of an eight-year-old in Jammu & Kashmir, along with the rape of an 18-year-old Unnao girl allegedly by a legislator affiliated to the ruling party.

The molestation incident at Wankhede is likely to be followed up by enhanced security in the stadium premises. The venue will be used for hosting five more matches of Mumbai Indians, along with four bouts featuring the Chennai Super Kings.
