Mahesh Sharma, Union Culture and Environment Minister have declared that a scientific study will be done to determine the exact colour of the marble that was used to build the Taj Mahal, post-Supreme Court intervening in the matter.

According to a report on Moneycontrol, in a petition filed by environmentalist advocate MC Mehta in the top Court and produced photographs of Taj Mahal before a bench of Justices Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta. He was quoted in the report saying, “First it was yellow, and now it is becoming brown and green."

The Apex Court pulled up the government for its negligence on the issue, and highlighted the need for an expert organisation to look into the matter.  Money should not be a consideration, and the main priority should be to save Taj Mahal.

Sharma in response to Supreme Court's intervention said that a scientific study called 'colour stereography’ will be conducted for comparison of the pictures between those that are around 100 years old and with the current ones, after cleaning the monument.
