Fishermen have been advised not to venture out to sea along the Kerala and Karnataka coasts today and tomorrow.
There is huge respite from the scorching sun, as private weather forecasting agency Skymet has announced the onset of monsoon in Kerala, and the arrival of the rainy season in India with the state receiving good rains on Monday. The country's Meteorological Department on the other hand said that monsoon would hit Kerala in the next 24 hours (Tuesday).
Skymet CEO Jatin Singh as quoted in the PTI report said, "There are Monsoon-like conditions over Kerala and we can say that the annual rainfall season has arrived." Skymet has further emphasised that all the criteria required for declaring the onset of monsoon over the Indian mainland have been met.
There are recent reports that heavy rains will continue to lash Kerala today as Southwest Monsoon further advances in the state. Fishermen have been advised not to venture out to sea along the Kerala and Karnataka coasts today and tomorrow. However, heat wave condition will continue to prevail across North India.
