WB Panchayat Election Result 2018: Security Personnel Lathi Charge TMC & BJP Workers Outside Counting Centre in Birbhum

As a result of the widespread violence, re-polling was ordered in 19 districts out of 20, amid tight security on May 16.

Birbhum, May 17: The counting of votes of West Bengal Panchayat Election 2018 started from 7 am today. Trinamool Congress is leading the winner's list, with BJP is in the second lead . According to ANI report, security personnel have lathi charged TMC and BJP workers, who clashed outside a counting centre in Birbhum.

In a shocking incident, Rajkumar Roy, Presiding Officer deputed in Raiganj, West Bengal for Panchayat Election was kidnapped on duty from polling booth. He was found murdered near a railway track recently. BJP Bengal has tweeted about the incident and top politicians from the party have condemned the act and have urged CM Mamata Banerjee to take note of the situation.

On the day of the polling on May 12, there was huge violence during the West Bengal Panchayat polls. It claimed atleast 25 lives, and left around 43 people injured. As a result of the widespread violence, re-polling was ordered in 19 districts out of 20, amid tight security on May 16.
