Bengaluru, April 27: In a major relief to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the UK's Westminster Court admitted all evidence it submitted against fugitive Vijay Mallya, charged of money laundering and fraudery by the Indian agencies.

CBI special director Rakesh Asthana was part of the delegation which travelled to the UK for the hearing scheduled today. The UK Court had earlier reprimanded the CBI, accusing it of being ill-prepared in the case.

After hearing the arguments of both sides on Friday, the court said it will pronounce the verdict in the case on July 11. If the court's ruling states that Mallya had violated Indian laws, the UK Home Secretary would have to sign the extradition request within two months.

However, both the sides could move to the higher courts in case of an unfavourable verdict.

Mallya, who is currently on bail after paying a bond of 6,50,000 pounds, is accused by a consortium of 13 Indian banks of wilfully defaulting loans amounting to Rs 9,000 crores which were sanctioned to his now-defunct carrier - the Kingfisher Airlines.

Mallya was confronted by Indian reporters after he moved out of the court's premises following the hearing. Although he refused to answer any of questions related to the charges levelled against him, he commented on the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections.

"It is my democratic right to vote in Karnataka but conditions of my bail are such that I cannot leave the UK. I haven't been following the politics there so cannot comment on the political developments," he said.
