Mumbai, July 16: The Railway Protection Force (RPF), and a passenger saved a man from being run over by a local train in Mumbai. According to video footage, released by ANI, the passenger can be seen trying to board a train at Panvel railway station, and he slips. In the video, he can be seen struggling hard to prevent himself from getting under the train. While few passengers walked by, the RPF showed exemplary courage, by pulling him on the platform.

Similar incidents have happened in the past as well. In April, when a woman passenger was trying to get down from a Panvel-bound train at Kurla station after 10 PM. It was then, she slipped and almost fell between the train and the tracks. The RPF and few other passengers showed their presence of mind and immediately rushed to hold her and prevent her from further slipping inside. These incidents are very common in Mumbai, where thousands of lives are lost due to passengers not paying attention to the safety requirements in the Mumbai locals. According to a railway data, published towards the second half of 2017, 1,590 people have been killed while travelling on trains — 676 died after falling off trains. While, few are lucky like the man above, but others are not so fortunate always.
