New Delhi, May 27: A video footage has come to the fore which shows a biker performing stunt at the Eastern Peripheral Expressway - a night before the Rs 11,000 crore solar-powered highway was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The clip, accessed by Times Now, shows the biker performing antics on the expressway while it was closed for general commuters. The channel claims the footage is of last night. Notably, the 135-km highway was inaugurated today by PM Modi. The footage has been shared by Times Now on its website.
EPE, also referred to as the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal Highway, is expected to decongest the Delhi-NCR as vehicles travelling from as far as Rajasthan to Himachal Pradesh and vica versa will not be required to pass through the national capital.
The road, PM Modi said, will serve as a model for all future projects. The expressway is also being referred to as green highway as a total of 50,000 trees have been planted on either sides.
The expressway would also feature replicas of 25 major monuments, including Lal Qila, Agra Fort, Qutub Minar and others, along the way.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari claimed the highway involved the job creation for over 9,000 men and 50,000 mandays of labour.
The lights along the highway would be powered using solar energy. In a bid to keep the movement of vehicles hassle-free, the toll would be collected using electronic means.
