Guwahati, Jun 29: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Thursday lost his cool when a school principal created ruckus at his Janata Darbar in Dehradun for seeking her transfer from a remote location. Visibly furious, Rawat instructed the police to arrest her and ordered suspension.

Uttara Bahuguna (57), principal of a government primary school in Naugaon area of Uttarkashi district, sough transfer saying she has been posted in such locations for the last 25 years. However, CM Rawat rejected her plea after which Bahuguna started arguing with him.

Rawat then lost his cool and said: “Suspend karo ise abhi (Suspend her immediately). Take her into police custody.” A video of the incident also surfaced on the internet in which Bahuguna is seen hurling abuses at the Chief Minister before being taken into custody under Section 151 of the CrPC.

Bahuguna was released on Thursday evening. After the incident, CM Rawat said Janata Darbar was meant for hearing public grievances and not to discuss transfers. “All transfers of government employees will be done under the state’s Transfer Act," the Chief Minister was quoted as saying.

Bahuguna said she had been posted in remote areas for 25 years and wants transfer for taking care of her children. "My husband used to take care of my two children, but after his death in August last year there is no one to take care of my children. Also, I am too old to work in remote areas," she reportedly said.
