Faizabad, Aug 31: In a real-life incident that would otherwise happen only in reel life, a married woman faked her death over dowry to marry her lover. The 'dead' woman was found alive by the Uttar Pradesh police that hed booked her husband for her alleged murder for dowry. The woman, identified as Rubi, later admitted that she had faked her death to marry her lover.
Rubi , a resident of Safdarganj police station area of Barabanki, was married to Rahul in July 2016. Last month, her father Hariprasad alleged that Rubi's husband Rahul, father-in-law Ram Harsh and mother-in-law Barki killed her for dowry. While the police refused to lodge an FIR because there was no strong evidences, a local court later ordered cops to investigate the case.
During the probe, the police found Rubi's Facebook was active. "After we came to know that her Facebook ID was active, we tracked her FB footprint for two months and put her phone on surveillance,” Barabanki SP V P Srivastava told Times of India. Cops soon found that she was living in Delhi with a person called Ramu.
The police arrested Rubi and Ramu and withdrew the case registered against Rahul. They booked Rubi's father under Section 182 for misleading the court.
