Unnao, May 17: Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested the station officer and sub-inspector posted at Makhi police station, Unnao when the victim's father Anand Kumar was in judicial custody. The cops Ashok Singh Bhadauriya and sub-inspector Kamta Prasad Singh were arrested for falsely charging the Unnao rape survivor’s father Anand Kumar under Arms Act on April 3, 2018. He passed away in judicial custody. This happened on the back of MLA Kuldeep Singh's brother and a group of men, allegedly beating the victim's father.
A few days back, according to reports, CBI confirmed rape charges against MLA Singh. According to an Indian Express report, CBI found that a police team rushed to the victim’s village on April 3 after learning that he “was creating nuisance”. The police then brought him to the station and allegedly proved that firearms were recovered from his possession. They later booked him under the Arms Act and for physical assault.
Last month, the victim and her family attempted self-immolation near Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence after the police ignored an FIR in the rape case. She alleged that a BJP MLA had raped her. Apart from the police officials, the woman also blamed CM Adityanath, accusing him of turning a deaf ear to her plight. She claimed her family members are facing life threats ever since they approached the police to seek justice.
