Lucknow April 12: FIR has been registered against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. According to a ANI report, he has been booked under sections 363, 366, 376 ,506 and POCSO Act. The 50-year-old MLA is charged of raping an 18-year-old girl in his home-district of Unnao. A day earlier, the Unnao police, under the directions of UP Director General of Police O P Singh, arrested Kuldeep's brother Atul Singh on charges of assaulting the victim's father, who died due to the fatal injuries on Monday.
The deceased, identified as 50-year-old Pappu Yadav, was allegedly assaulted by the MLA's brother and his accomplices, before handing him over to the Unnao police on fraudulent charges. Yadav was rushed to the Unnao district hospital on Sunday after his condition deteriorated.
The incident started getting attention after the victim along with her family members attempted suicide outside the CM's residence. The victim claimed she was raped on multiple occasions by the MLA and his aides between June 9-12 last year. "Despite running from pillar to post, I was denied justice. I also approached CM Yogi ji in August. But despite his orders, the police failed to act. Instead, they booked my family members on fake charges," she said.
The Yogi Adityanath government late night on April 10, decided to hand over the case to CBI for probe into the Unnao Rape Case. The development came hours after the Allahabad High Court sought the Yogi Adityanath-led state government's stand on the incident on a letter to the court by senior lawyer Gopal Swaroop Chaturvedi detailing the case and posted the matter for hearing. Allahabad HC took suo motu cognisance of the case and ordered the deceased body to be kept in custody and not cremated. Meanwhile, in a dramatic late night development, Sengar made a surprise appearance outside the Lucknow SSP's residence, triggering speculation that he might surrender, but left the place without handing himself over to the police.
