In the recent development of the Unnao Rape case, Allahabad High Court has asked for a progress report by May 2. According to a report on ANI, the Court will also monitor the probe. It has further said that the accused MLA, Kuldeep Singh Sengar should be arrested and not detained. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday detained Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl here. He has been in the CBI since morning, for further interrogation into the case.

On April 12, charges under POSCO act were levelled against him, however, Lucknow Police refused to arrest him till the charges are proved. On April 8, the victim, along with her family members, tried to commit suicide in front of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence in Lucknow. Later, the victim's father was taken into police custody from the location. As per reports, he was intimidated by Sengar's brother, Atul, who mercilessly thrashed him, while in custody and he passed away. The case still keeps hanging as the accused is still NOT arrested.
